Ask Culinary Cory: The Series

Brent and I recently purchased a modest three-bedroom house in the great city of Pittsburgh. It is outfitted with two and a half baths, a walkout basement and a decent sized yard. In the spring, we expect to convert a window into a new door, and build a deck for entertaining and dining alfresco. Ahh, I can smell the steaks grilling and hear the margarita’s shaking now. Maybe I will have a chance to plant a real herb garden in a small corner of the yard. Basil will certainly be at the top of the list.
We expect to be busy painting, removing the 1980’s wallpaper and changing light fixtures to fit our tastes throughout the entire week. In addition to everything else, the kitchen will also be in shambles while it is reconfigured with new stainless steel appliances and additional cabinets to fit all my gear. As I’m sure you have guessed such a project leaves very little time to create any new flavors.
Not to worry, I have a plan.
Some of my past blog posts have sparked additional basic cooking questions from a few of my most loyal readers. I have really enjoyed reading them and engaging in a discussion through the comments section after each post. So I thought this move was a perfect opportunity to compile a few of my most frequent questions into a series called Ask Culinary Cory. Each day we will explore cooking techniques that not only add flavor but save time in the cooking process. This will be a fun week of posts, and I encourage you to return the favor by sharing some your favorite tips and tricks in the comments section.
Happy reading while I’m painting!

Thanks for the kind words, Amanda. I agree, it’s surprising to hear people are actually still able to buy houses out there. Our trick was to look for something that was modest, fit our needs and didn’t break the bank. (no pun intended) The best part about this plan was it left plenty of extra cash for the updates.
I’ve just now discovered your blog and am subscribing. Looking forward to this series
and congratulations on your new digs. You don’t hear about people buying property too often these days, so it’s nice to know that the mortgage industry isn’t at a complete stand still LOL
Ooh! I’m excited!
Good luck painting!!
