Save a Little Money & Give a Little Dough

Wine, home improvement cards and potted plants are all classic housewarming gifts. But, what do you give someone that already has received them from others? That was the question I asked myself while gearing up to attend a housewarming party over the weekend. A friend of mine just purchased a gigantic 6 bedroom…yes…6 bedroom home that is nestled in the hills overlooking the metro Pittsburgh area.
The house has a ton of historic character because it’s a little over 100 years old. Yet, at the same time, needs a little refresh from a decorating perspective. Let’s just say the previous owners had a unique design aesthetic. To be honest, their aesthetic was pretty darn ugly. The concept of the housewarming party was to show everyone the house in all of its current glory. It also was a great way to truly appreciate the sheer massiveness of all three-stories. Then there will be a second housewarming party in a few months to showcase all the changes. It’s such a fun idea.
I know my friend LOVES Snickerdoodle cookies, and my recipe is absolutely heavenly. So I decided to whip up a quick batch of dough and package it with baking directions for him. Now after he drinks the wine, spends the home improvement card and waters the plant; he can throw in a batch of cookies to make the house smell great.

Love snickerdoodles – great idea! Plus they make the house smell great!
Snickerdoodles sound like a great housewarming present. I feel like I’m bringing the wrong gift when I show up with wine or flowers, which I blame on hearing George Costanza’s line about “You should bring Ring Dings and Pepsi. They’re more appreciated!”
What is it about Cookie Dough that just looks SO YUMMY!
I swear I just want to stick my finger in the bowl or grab the beater and run off with it, screaming with joy like a little kid.
