Random Thoughts about Sophie

I’m sitting on my back patio taking advantage of the break from consistent rain the past few days. Sophie is always thrilled to play outside while I’m writing, and it’s humorous to watch her bounce around the yard. Her favorite activities always seem to involve chewing on the various tree limbs, grape vines and fallen leaves scattered throughout my backyard.
While flipping through a series of recent food photos for an upcoming blog post, I noticed Sophie lying in the moist grass near my chair. I wondered to myself what could possibly be going through her head. She is an incredibly smart dog with a tiny tail she uses as a mechanism to express her unique version of sign language. Brent and I call it her “happy tail” because we immediately know her level of happiness by the wag of her tail.
She is now chewing on her most recent discovery, and perfectly content in her surroundings. I imagine her analyzing the stick like I would with a recipe. “Hmm, the outer bark has an oak flavor that compliments well with soft, salty, tang of the pulp. It needs a little more seasoning though.” She is a perfect dog to keep me company while I ponder and write for this blog.

Authors Note: Sophie is a Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier. She’s just under a year old. Her favorite toy is a soft soccer ball that she squeaks when she wants to play.
