Ile de France Camembert Cheese

Ile de France

The kitchen was filled with a nutty aroma as a circle of soft cheese gently warmed in the oven. Thanks to Ile de France, I had the opportunity to receive a wheel of their camembert cheese to sample and share with friends. Similar to brie, this cheese is rich, creamy and nutty in flavor. It works well in all sorts of recipes, but my favorites involve something sweet baked on top.

A classic way to make brie or camembert cheese special is by gently warming it in a 375 degree oven for 3-5 minutes, or until the center is molten warm. A couple of my favorite toppings involve fresh berries, apples, or pears. Most recently I took advantage of the peach season and made balsamic peach compote that was poured on top before serving. Multigrain crackers or thin slices of rustic bread are perfect vessels to transport the brie to your mouth.

So, what are your favorite brie recipes? Here are some interesting ideas from a few fellow food bloggers.

I love Ile de France and especially brie! Their goat is also amazing :)

  2. Mmm, that brie ice cream sounds crazy. Crazy good in a crazy way. Brie is a good cheese to eat just as it is, but we’re big fans of it in the warm fashion. We’ve done a warm brie with blackberry sauce at parties, and it kills! http://duodishes.com/2009/03/01/foodbuzz-24-24-24-a-tipsy-dinner-party/
